Analisis Peran Perbankan Syariah terhadap Pertumbuhan Ekonomi Kota Makassar

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Islamic banking in the economic growth of Makassar City. The research method used is a descriptive-analytical approach, utilizing secondary data sourced from reports by the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and publications from Islamic banking institutions in Makassar City. The results show that Islamic banking contributes positively to the economic growth of Makassar City, especially through the distribution of financing to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Sharia based financing has proven capable of boosting community economic activity and promoting income equality. However, the contribution of Islamic banking still faces several challenges, such as low levels of sharia financial literacy and limited product innovation. Therefore, a synergy between local government, sharia financial institutions, and the community is needed to optimize the role of Islamic banking in supporting sustainable economic growth in Makassar.
