Copyright Notice

Al-Azhar Islamic Law Review (AILREV) recognizes the intellectual contribution and rights of authors whose works are published in the journal.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that manuscripts submitted to AILREV are original works and that all third-party materials are appropriately cited and used in accordance with applicable copyright and intellectual property regulations.

Author Rights

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that:

  1. the manuscript is their original work;
  2. the manuscript has not been previously published;
  3. the manuscript is not simultaneously submitted to another journal;
  4. all authors have approved the submitted version;
  5. permission has been obtained for copyrighted third-party materials where required; and
  6. appropriate acknowledgement and citation have been provided for materials derived from other sources.

Publication Rights

Upon acceptance, authors grant Al-Azhar Islamic Law Review the right to publish, reproduce, distribute, and make the accepted article publicly accessible through the journal's publication platform, subject to the copyright and licensing terms adopted by the journal.

The journal may preserve and disseminate the published version as part of its permanent academic record.

Third-Party Materials

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted materials when such permission is required.

The use of quotations, tables, figures, images, datasets, or other third-party materials must comply with applicable copyright regulations and scholarly citation practices.

Copyright and Licensing

AILREV should clearly state its copyright ownership and licensing arrangement on the journal website and in each published article.

At present, I do not recommend inserting a specific Creative Commons licence into this policy unless the journal has formally determined and adopted that licence.

For example, if the journal officially adopts CC BY 4.0, the licence should be stated consistently on:

  1. the journal website;
  2. article landing pages;
  3. PDF articles;
  4. article metadata; and
  5. author guidelines.

This avoids presenting a licensing arrangement that has not yet been formally established by the journal.
