Publishing Process
Al-Azhar Journal of Islamic Economics (AJIE) follows a structured editorial and peer-review workflow designed to maintain academic quality, integrity, and transparency.
AJIE is published bi-annually:
June and December
Stage 1 — Submission
Authors submit manuscripts through the official AJIE online submission system.
Manuscripts must comply with:
- Focus and Scope;
- Author Guidelines;
- journal template;
- citation requirements;
- research-ethics requirements; and
- publication-ethics requirements.
Stage 2 — Initial Editorial Screening
The editorial team conducts an initial assessment concerning:
- scope;
- originality;
- manuscript completeness;
- formatting;
- academic relevance;
- methodological adequacy;
- references; and
- potential publication-ethics concerns.
Manuscripts that do not satisfy fundamental requirements may be returned to authors or rejected at the initial stage.
Stage 3 — Similarity Screening
The manuscript may undergo similarity screening.
Similarity results are evaluated contextually and are not treated as the sole criterion for determining plagiarism.
Stage 4 — Peer Review
Manuscripts passing the initial screening are sent to appropriate peer reviewers.
Reviewers assess:
- originality;
- research significance;
- theoretical foundation;
- methodology;
- data or evidence;
- analysis;
- interpretation;
- contribution;
- references; and
- clarity of presentation.
The journal should publicly identify the exact peer-review model actually implemented by AJIE. The model should not be described as double-anonymous, single-anonymous, or another form unless it is consistently applied in practice.
COPE states that peer-review processes should be transparently described and appropriately managed.
Stage 5 — Editorial Decision
Possible editorial decisions include:
- Accept
- Minor Revision
- Major Revision
- Reject
The final decision is made by the editors based on the overall editorial and peer-review assessment.
Stage 6 — Revision
Authors receiving a revision decision should respond to reviewer and editor comments and revise the manuscript accordingly.
Where necessary, the revised manuscript may undergo additional peer review.
Stage 7 — Acceptance
A manuscript is accepted after the editors determine that the manuscript satisfies the journal's academic, editorial, and ethical requirements.
Stage 8 — Copyediting and Production
Accepted manuscripts undergo editorial preparation, which may include:
- language editing;
- formatting;
- citation and reference checking;
- metadata verification;
- affiliation verification; and
- proofreading.
Stage 9 — Publication
The final article is published online as part of the relevant journal issue.
AJIE is published twice annually:
June and December
The journal provides immediate open access to its published content.
Stage 10 — Post-Publication
AJIE maintains the integrity of its published scholarly record.
Where necessary, the journal may publish corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions.
